....theres a naan bread bakery less than 5mins away from the house!
4 freshly-baked-there-in-front-of-you-garlic-naans for £1 !!!!!!!

soooooooo much fun!!!! why have i never done this before?????

well, thats family 'do' number 2 of this year... god i'm being sociable :o/
(my cousin's engagement party. we managed to sneak out after one hour)

my dad pointed at some mini champage-bottles filled with bubble blowing stuff ...."i thought they were poppers" he tells me. i look at him in horror and confusion "how do you know about poppers??? i mean..... ???" i then realised he meant party-poppers that bang and are full of streamers. ah well.... it made me giggle all the way home :o)

had a quick wander out yesterday evening to find 'bradley woods' ...a nearby patch of woodland. discovered it was just a muddy field and a couple of trees, but the sky was incredible!!!! i had to take a couple of pics!

it was great just to get out of the house & get some fresh air.... i've had the tummy bug from hell for the past 11 days :o(

i'm having a mega productive day, which is nice after a quiet christmas & new year....

lots of orders (mainly bloomers!) i'm getting on with
+called bramleys to sort out our non-opening windows
+made an appointment to see my accountant (woo! i feel like real, proper, not-pretend business woman!)
+called e-on to resend out bills for the past 18months (in the hope i can show mr.accountant & claim % of electricity as business expenses)

i've already gots a few exciting things planned for the year ahead (i need stuff to look forward to!)
*we're going to stay in a haunted castle in wales in april (you get the full run of the castle!!!)
*got tickets to go & see antony & the johnsons again
*kellie & otto's wedding followed by camping trip ....waaaaaay up the top of scotland.
*fingers crossed, we are going to try to go to rome in september (i've been a few times, and can't wait to show j!)

hope everyone is well and had a cool christmas + new year!

yay!..... today i have been to the dentist and had £200 worth of teeth-fixing.
i then went to the doctors to have stitches removed from my toe (knocked a lamp onto my foot earlier hours of last sunday..... then had to go to casualty for stiches. me?....clumsy??)
AND.... no longer feel flu-ey. huzzah!....i am fixed!

on a more pumpkin-ier note.... its that time of year again!!!
ta-da! 1 large pumpkin = ace lantern + spicey pumpkin soup (made pumpkin seed bread too)

went to an auction today (first time!). i was good and didn't get bidding tourettes like i envisaged.... (though did bid lots & got outbid) ....i did win a rather nice hat stand for 20 squids though :o)

i spent £3.33 on one potato a couple of days ago. it was a rather entertaing GIANT sweet potato-zilla. it was too comedy to leave in tesco. i had to bring it home for amusement-value. said potato has now been roasted. (not as a whole roast potato like a carve-off sunday roast.... though this was contemplated).

finally got a new passport. as i'd left it until the last minute before going away (milan... anthony & the johnsons... huzzah!!!) i had to go to the passport office in liverpool for it. city of culture?????.... my arse. city of cultured milk i think.... the whole place reeeeeks of off milk :o(
never ever going to that place again.... horrid.horrid,horrid.

still into baking lots :o) made ginger buns a couple of days ago.... think it will be gingerbread men tomorrow!!!

J had his first attempt at home made pasta last night.... oh my god! yum! 't'was sooooo good!

i think the heat is finally getting to me... i just want to sleep! its too hot to work! though i'm happy we are finally getting a summer. i picked up a bargainous £7.50 3 man tent in the tesco sales, so i can throw away my jet wee tent, and go camping! yay! :oD

time to make a post methinks!

on the grrrrr side.... another trip to the vets for harvy yesterday. he was in a lot of pain again with his leg monday night (possibly fighting with the foxes again?), but its just bruised and swollen (again), so he has pain killers. this cost £53, but i've just checked my bank account online and the transaction has gone through twice!!! been in touch with the bank, and the vets... they're trying to get it sorted, but for some reason they have no record of me being there yesterday (their computer kept throwing me out of their system for some reason), and it looks even more dodgier as i'm registered as Addams at the vets, but my bank card says Needham (long story). i don't think the guy at the vets believed me, and won't be able to look into their accounts 'til tomorrow. pah!

on the hurrah side... business is good, life generally is good, and my fabulous husband has just booked tickets and flights to see Antony and the Johnsons in Milan in september for our 1st wedding anniversary!!!!! i'm soooooooo excited!!!! :oD

i'm still waiting for summer to happen as i desperately want to go camping (though i need a new tent as mine stinks of cat wee.... thankyou jet)

right... i have a gazillion petticoats to make now....

i have a pigeon in my bath!

....well, it was up the chimney, but we had to remove the gas fire to get it. this was a week ago, the gas-man said unfortunately we had to wait for it to die, as it would cause too much chaos if pulled out alive, and they usually die anyway. we have listened to it flap about in the chimney for a week... its been heartbreaking, i hate any animal having to suffer (we even tried removing the fire ourselves ...unsuccessfully) :o(

the gas-man came today to remove the fire and pull out the dead bird, only to find a bloody huge pigeon, still alive!!! he's very weak, so he's in the bath with food and water ....i can't get through to the rspca, just keep getting recorded messages. grrrrr!

....anyone got any advice???

thankyou to plushy for a gorgeous lunch! just had a lunchbreak sat in the garden in the sunshine, plushy had made a chickpea/bean/feta/garlic/avacado salad with fresh-baked rolls. yum!!!! its soooo nice outside!

yesterday was full of sunshine and yay too!!! relaxed in the garden with plushy + owen + nick + many cats (i love living here!) and did a bit of gardening too.... dug over and weeded my little patch in the garden, and planted my blueberry plants. if they've got any butternut squash plants left at b&q, i'm going to put a couple of them in too.

my fab hubby then made a gorgous dinner of couscous & haloumi (god i LOVE haloumi!)

is it really over 2 months since i last posted on here???

well... life is good :o)
nothing much exciting to report on....

we have a fab new neighbour in the shape of plushy (yay!) so i can see it being a fun summer ahead, filled with many tea parties in the garden!

just finished watching the whole of carnivale (rather good), and we are also making our way through our Wong Kar-Wai box set (again, very good!)

the decorating on the apartment is still coming along... we painted the hallway a couple of weeks ago, a gorgeous dark red. it is now already to fill with 'stuff' ...the runner rug is down, the morrocan lantern is ready to go up, J is aquiring large bugs in boxes to stick on the wall :os
...i'm determined to get all the little decorating jobs finished this summer!

work is good.... i'm going through a 'ruffley' phase at the moment!

i've just had a go at making brioche rolls.... tastes good, but turned out more like rock buns or scones :o/

with all the stuff on tv recently (hugh fearnley /channel 4) about free range / organic chicken & eggs, its given J & i a kick up the bum with our eating habits... although we've always bought free range eggs (& J eats free range chicken), it horrified us just how many things we eat which actually contain 'cruel eggs'. its just something i'd not given much thought to before... shop bought things like quiche, mayonnaise, brioche, egg pasta, egg mayo sanwiches (the list goes on....) all contain (if obviously stated otherwise) 'cruel eggs' :o(

we've recently taken to having a go at cooking/making our own versions of these (hence the brioche).... J is a fab cook any way, and pretty much cooks everything from scratch. his home made deep-filled quiche rocks!!!!!

can't wait for his attempt at pasta :oD yumyumyum.....

i've just spent the afternoon over at my parents' and seem to have come away with loads of ace crap!!! (no jamie, couldn't find my old carcass t-shirt, sorry!)

theres probably only plushy who will appreciate this... i stole back an antique glass cake stand (ready for tea-parties!!) and my mum found (and i grovelled them off her...) 50's/60's super-kitsch drinks glasses, including a set of 12 babycham glasses... ha! ha!

i love tack!!!! :oD

i had my car booked in for some work + mot at a garage in honley (just outside huddersfield) this morning (on a recommendation from a friend)....

there was really bad flooding on the roads on the drive out there, and when i got to the garage, the owner was stood outside looking helpless, and shrugged at me when i asked where i should leave the car. he hadn't managed to open up due to flooding, but just stood about looking pathetic. HE COULD HAVE BLOODY WELL PHONED ME!!!!!! grrrrrrrrr!

so i had to carefully drive back through the flooded roads, with my exhaust pipe hanging off (i shouldn't be driving it at all). i've booked in elsewhere tomorrow.

rant over.
